to sleep, perchance to dream

i spotted these photographs of this amazing hotel in today’s sunday times style supplement. the hotel is the maison moschino in milan, and the “common thread connecting each of the rooms is the fairy tale theme; because to sleep is perchance to dream, and dreams are fairy tales that we are allowed to experience first hand, fables of a fantasy world we have created.”

of course, there is the alice-inspired room with it’s oversized tea cup table, and a sleeping beauty chamber, with an extravangant ballgown as a headboard. there is also a room which must surely be called the ‘nightmare’ room, because a giant wasp hovers over the bed, emitting a terrible ‘zzzzz’, which always occurs in the worst of my nightmares, forcing me to wake with a violent jolt. if there was still a wasp hovering overhead when i awoke… urghhhh, i shudder just thinking about it.

no, i would most like to slumber in the narnia-themed room, with a forest around the bed and a wise owl as my bedside companion. ooooh, i wonder if mr. tumnus is lurking in the wardrobe…?

Oh the Narnia room looks perfectly dreamy. I can imagine some wonderful adventures there! I also love the hanging dress that becomes a bed… just the kind of bed that might have a pea hiding under the mattress.

I love the oversize teacup table! All of the rooms are fabulous, minus the wasp one. Ugh, giant wasps are never a good idea.

Wow….these are fantastic. I, too, love that forest bed. The glowing owl is precious! What a treat to see such a whimsical hotel….it’s very me!
