i’m very excited about the launch of the new festival terrace shop at the southbank centre, which opens it doors tomorrow. the original shop has been expanded into the railway tunnel behind, and the stunning new  retail space will showcase designs from british talent across fashion, art, jewellery, photography and interiors.

the new opening co-incides with the launch of a fantastic selection of products celebrating the 60th anniversary of the festival of britain, including these lovely pieces by tatty devine, lizzie allen, mini moderns, rimmington vian and thornback and peel. “since the time of the festival of britain [in 1951] there has always been a strong legacy of design on the site and i see the new shop as an important way of further encouraging talented makers and design companies. the shop will build on its reputation as catering for those passionate about design as well as those looking for unique gifts,” says adam thow, head of retail.

i cannot wait to visit!

Item number 6 is not Festival of Britain merchandise – it is one of our ‘old’ designs inspired by the gates at Kensington Palace. The Lion and Unicorn were, indeed, part of the imagery used in the Festival. Perhaps we should have revived it for the exhibition?
