A&J margarita making

whilst waiting for the storm to hit yesterday evening, my housemates and i decided it would be the perfect time to indulge in a spot of cocktail making and cracked open a very lovely gift that i’d been sent recently from alexander & james, a new online store dedicated to premium spirits and the craft, heritage and passion that go into making them.

they’d sent me a rather fantastic don julio cocktail set, and we set about mixing up the perfect margs to see in the blustery winds and torrentials rains about to sweep the country. as you can see from the photo, our creations may not have looked picture-perfect but they certainly packed a good punch and quite frankly, that’s the most important thing, right? we followed this simple margarita recipe and salted our glasses with steenbergs margarita sea salt and by the time the storm finally hit believe me, the cocktails had worked their magic!

rather like alexander & james truth be told, who will certainly become a go-to of mine whenever i’m in need of a gift for those difficult-to-buy-for friends. they have a carefully selected range of gift sets and individual accessories – including branded glassware, ice buckets and cocktail stirrers – which allow you to put together the perfect gift package, with stunningly stylish presentation boxes to boot.

here are a few gift ideas i’m squirreling away for the festive season – anything taking your fancy?
