decorate with flowers

i’m honoured to be hosting today’s decorate with flowers book tour on some truly wonderful blogs (hello flowerona, trend daily, curate & display and sania pell!), celebrating this fabulous new launch from two incredibly talented friends, holly becker and leslie shewring.

packed with images, ideas and useful information and tips to help you embrace creative floral styling at home, this book really reflects holly and leslie’s personal styles and their love for all things bright, fresh, colourful and pretty. i’m not one who would ordinarily opt for anything overly floral or pretty, but the design and layout of the book really appealed to me for its fresh, contemporary approach and vibrant use of pattern and colour, celebrating the beauty of small floral sprigs and wildly grown bunches over the traditional pristinely-arranged floral bouquets of your average floristry book.

the book is divided into sections to suit different interior styles, from happy brights, to neutral pop and pastels & neons (my favourite colour pairing!), with fabulously visual mood boards to inspire your creations. there is also a lot of handy and practical advice on topics such as choosing everyday household vessels to re-purpose for displaying your blooms, different arrangements to suit social occasions (such as cocktail hour with the girls, and anniversary dinners), and how to create floral harmony in your home.

as someone who usually shies away from natural blooms (i’ve even been known to chastise a boyfriend for wasting money on flowers for me!), i’m definitely eager now to try out some of holly and leslie’s floral tips in my own home!

decorate with flowers is released in the uk on 21st march 2014, and you can pre-order your copy here.
