i’ve long been a fan of COS’ simple, elegant silhouettes and nendo‘s modern, functional design, so it stands to reason that a COS x nendo collaboration would be a match made in heaven.
tokyo-based design studio nendo strives to give people a small “!” moment through their vibrant store concepts and mystically inspired exhibition spaces as well as sculptural furniture pieces, home accessories, and design objects, and their latest design project for scandinavian brand COS is no exception.
presented at last week’s salone del mobile in milan, nendo created an ethereal installation using COS’ signature white shirts and custom metal frames alongside the launch of the new homeware pieces, a nod to minimal aesthetics and clean cut lines that make the two brands a perfect coupling. “the smartly ordered shirts are crisp, classic white until they fall inside the steel cube frames, at which point they take on colour as though the space itself has dyed them,” said nendo’s founder oki sato; the effect is breathtakingly simple yet highly effective.
the new products include bulbous-based candle holders, a sleek monochrome tabletop globe and japanese tea ritual sets, helping you to ensure your home is as smartly tailored and on trend as you – that teapot has jumped straight to the top of my lust & covet list this week!
