tangerine, citrus yellow and tiffany blue form the basis of the beautiful colour palette for the new collection of statement vases, serving bowls, storage jars and jugs by hemingwaydesign for royal doulton*, to celebrate the 200th birthday of this iconic british ceramics brand.
the fresh flirty range of mid century inspired ceramics capture hemingwaydesign’s lifelong passion for producing quality, sustainable design and their love for the mid century aesthetic. “much of the design that came out of the 50s/60s modernist movement still looks just as modern and forward thinking today,” explains tilly hemingway in a design icons interview with est magazine recently. “mid century ceramics, especially vases & storage, in a way that you could have collection of varying shapes, sizes, colour & texture, sit together brilliantly but also look great as a pieces on their own,” she continues.
i’m certainly inclined to agree, as my own burgeoning collection of mid century pieces from numerous car boot and bric-a-brac sales would attest, and i’d certainly happily add a few pieces from the new royal doulton collection to my haul – the striking jug* and small tealight holders* are particular favourites of mine.
which pieces would you opt for?
