Gypsum Lifestyle Wall Kitchen

a few weeks ago i was invited by british gypsum to a blogger event celebrating the launch of its innovative new product, lifestyle wall, from its rooms made for you range.

this revolutionary new wall is set to transform the way we live in our homes, offering a truly flexible and adaptable wall option that makes it quicker and easier to attach anything from picture hooks to televisions to the wall. designed to be stronger, more durable and more user-friendly than standard plasterboard walls, the core strength of lifestyle wall means it can withstand repeated bumps and knocks in busy rooms like halls, kitchens or playrooms.

it features a new plasterboard, gyproc habito, which has a reinforced core and is five times stronger than standard plasterboard. this super strength means fixtures and fittings can simply be screwed straight into the wall wherever the homeowner chooses. in fact, a single no. 10 woodscrew can support 15kg of weight! i have to say, i probably wouldn’t have believed it if i hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.

at the blogger event, hosted by restoration man george clarke, we all got the chance to try our hand at screwing into the new plasterboard, to illustrate the fact that no additional reinforcements or rawl plugs were needed to hang heavy weights, such as mirrors and televisions, and that a much sought after gallery wall can be assembled in mere moments!

living in rented accommodation i’m always supremely jealous of people who have wall-to-wall shelving that helps to maximise their floor space, or are able to switch the artwork in their home up whenever their heart desires. with lifestyle wall, flexible storage solutions and artistic whims can be catered for exponentially, with a wall that can hold excessive weight and be made new again with a simple filler when required.

although more expensive than standard plaster board, the durability and hard wearing nature of this product means it’s worth the investment in your home and it is hard to see why it wouldn’t become an industry standard in the coming years, doing away with all the fuss, mess & fiddly-ness usually associated with home diy tasks!
