after falling for the lovely cork tables in my recent 55 kvadrat post, i quickly discovered they were from the new ilse crawford for ikea range, which got me thinking about the increasing use of cork in home interiors this year – it’s definitely becoming a major new trend!
i remember being at the stockholm furniture fair a few years ago with my friend helen and spotting a few choice cork items (find 3 and it has the makings of a new trend – we did!), so it’s lovely to see how the material has filtered down in the past few years from trade fair to high street stores.
it’s not surprising that cork has become the buzz material of the moment; it’s aesthetically beautiful, functional and eco-friendly. ilse crawford’s new ikea collection explores the natural beauty of cork alongside ceramics and glass, embracing simple forms, honest imperfections and soft textures to bring balance and wellbeing to your home.

Very on the money with this one Kate, we will definitely be seeing more of this sustainable material, especially now that a lot of wines are screw top… I listened to Isla’s talk at LDF and it was one of the most inspiring talks I’ve been to for a while, so much so that I am going to write about it ;0)
I was gutted not to attend Ilsa’s talk during LDF – looking forward to seeing your post Pips! xx
Love this post. I was at the Isle Crawford talk too and was inspiring, who knew cork could be so interesting? and coatings too!
This cork selection is great too, I’m swooning over the Menu pot. x
What a great collection. It’s so nice to see cork making a comeback, and in such beautiful ways.
I have serious bench envy! :)
I feel like I missed out now not having been at the talk! What a great selection of items from your shop – they work so well together and I love the texture and warmth of cork. Popping over to your shop to have a peek! x
