Fabric of my Life.

wiwn, July.

The weather this month has been, uhh, eclectic to say the least…

I blame the kids breaking up from school for the pretty apocalyptic downpours we’ve been having this week. So, it’s safe to say I’ve been daydreaming of sunnier climes a lot these past few days..

Happily though, my gals and I have booked a last-minute Balearic vacation and will soon be headed off in search of sun, sea, sand and sangria! 0f course, this means shopping for a few additional holiday style essentials is in order.

Right now I’m coveting:

Clockwise from top left:

I’m sure that most of you know by now about TOMS* ubiquitous ‘one for one’ campaign, where for every pair of TOMS shoes purchased, another is donated to a child in need. But did you know they also sell sunglasses in the similar fashion too? With each pair of sunglasses purchased, TOMS provide a person in need with a full eye exam by trained medical professionals, and any follow-up treatment they might require too, including prescription glasses, sight-saving surgery or medical treatment. Through this scheme TOMS have already helped restore sight to over 500,000 people in developing countries, who wouldn’t otherwise have had access to eye care that we take for granted here in the UK. For my forthcoming holiday I plan to protect my own eyes from the harsh glare of the Balearic sun with these beautiful Harlan Havana tortoise sunglasses*, and in turn help someone far less fortunate reclaim their own independence through restored sight.

A floaty white light-as-a-feather top is an absolute must in my book, and this soft silk and cotton blend Bath Devore top* from Hush ticks all my summer style boxes: ruffled hem, subtle decorative patterning and simple boho tassel detail to boot!

When I’m away on holiday I like nothing better than to remain barefoot and fancy-free all day, but when I do have to leave the confines of our villa and venture out into town or to the beach, these simple, elegant and barely-there Asymmetrical Gladiator sandals* from Dôen would be the next best thing, minus the pain of accidentally stepping on any unexpected sharp-edged objects!

A simple, lightweight pull-over style dress that takes you effortlessly from day-to-night is my kind of summer staple, and i love the flattering moss green shade of this Rhiannon pleated-shoulder dress* from Anthropologie. Dressed up with heels for a night on the town, or paired with a simple flip-flop by day for wandering cobbled streets, this dress has summer style all sewn up!

Straw basket bags are everywhere this summer, and my favourite offering has to be this Florence round shopper from Violet & Percy, which I spotted over on Designhunter’s instagram recently and knew I had to snap up! It certainly seems to be the most practical and spacious of all the straw baskets I’ve come across lately, with enough room to carry a paperback, trusty bottle of sunscreen and my sunnies down to the beach..

No summer vacation would be complete without a dip in the sea —or at least the hotel pool!— so swimwear is pretty much the first thing I thought of when running down my list of holiday essentials. Over the years I’ve come to rely on Boden for bikinis and swimsuits that offer a sensible amount of (much-needed) skin coverage and support, whilst still being stylish and en trend. This navy pop spot Rhodes swimsuit* has a flattering halterneck and beautifully feminine silhouette, whilst also being modest and comfortable – meaning i can frolic with abandon in the ocean and enjoy every moment, without panicking that i’m giving anyone an eyeful – quelle horreur!
