Fabric of my Life.

wiwn, Sept.

With both Awards Season and the London Design Festival upon us, this month has been all about smartening up my act a little and hunting down a few statement pieces guaranteed to turn heads, whilst still retaining my love of comfy casual..

For the Northern Blog Awards this past weekend I was delighted to discover Manchester-based fashion brand Lavish Alice, who hooked me up with the most fabulously swishy black satin one-shoulder asymmetric-hem dress**, which made me feel über-glam and demanded I curl my hair, don a pair of skyscraper heels and coax out my inner Northern gal for the night.

Despite having only moved up to Manchester earlier this year, I was both surprised and incredibly touched to be nominated for Best Interior Design Blog and y’know what.. I only went and bloody won!

Seriously, I’d already felt so welcomed and embraced by the amazing blogging community up here in the North, but to have been so welcomed into the fold and willing accepted – despite my overtly Southern gal roots – has been truly humbling. I had the most wonderful night getting to know so many other wonderful bloggers in the community and cannot wait to spend more time getting to know everyone through the WeBlogNorth community, set up by the wonderful Holly Wood (another expat Southerner in the North!)

But, back to the fashion. As I mentioned, this month has been all about glamming things up a little more, and these are the pieces I’ve had my lil’ eye on.. Those ankle boots from ASOS btw, are waaay more comfy than they look and have already seen me round the town a number of times without any pain —or more importantly— any blisters!
