Fabric of my Life.

The February Edit.

All of the lovely new SS18 collections landing in my inbox just now give me hope that springtime really is on it’s way!

I’m definitely in need of a little colour palette pick-me-up after a few long, dark winter months (my first up North) and seeing a wealth of warm caramel hues, fresh inky blues and a smattering of punchy florals has certainly lifted my spirits the past few weeks.

Of course, not being one whose naturally smitten with overly vibrant hues, my first monthly edit of the year was never going to be awash with colour, but there are certainly a few fabulous gems emerging from some of my trusty fave Scandinavian brands, along with smart tech pieces and must-have wellbeing products.

Here are a few of the lovely new things I’m coveting this month..

Norm Architects

Hold the press!  I think I’ve just found the cosy cocooning armchair I didn’t even know I was searching for..

Just one of Norm Architect‘s many offerings for SS18, the new Enclose armchair for Fogia is a wingback consisting of two shells resting on a wooden base that “meet each other the same way flowers and leaves do.” This inspiration from nature has been masterfully interpreted through Norm’s customary minimalist and functional approach, offering up clean lines and elegant details to create an ergonomic, nest-like hideaway.

Don’t you just want to curl up in it and hibernate until spring is finally sprung..?

Native Union

Native Union are always my go-to for smart tech designs fused with chic aesthetics, and their new Drop charger (launching March 2018) is the perfect wireless desktop device for any minimalist, clutter-free, workspace (hm, so not mine then, ha!)

Compatible with iPhones 8, 8 Plus and X, as well as any Qi-enabled device, it has been designed with a non-slip silicone tread to keep your device in place and prevent overheating for optimum charging speed. It will also charge through most cases up to 3mm thick.

Marimekko

Marimekko‘s new designs for Spring are perfect for a bright colour-phobe like me! I’ve always adored their prints, and the new colour pairing of rich creamy caramel with mellow sky blue is a total winner in my book. The new range utilises archive prints by Maija Isola and Annika Rimala from the ’60s and ’70s with contemporary designs by younger generation designers Carina Seth Andersson, Maija Louekari and Aino-Maija Metsola.

Throughout 2018, Marimekko will also be celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of its most beloved patterns, Tasaraita (evenly striped), designed in 1968 by Annika Rimala, as a new symbol for the era of unisex.

Ferm Living

Ferm Living can always be counted on to deliver an array of fantastic new pieces season-after-season, and of course SS18 is no exception. You’ve no doubt already seen the full collection story shot in their wonderful Copenhagen townhouse all across the internet (which you can see here if you’ve somehow missed it), but I thought I’d call out a few of my favourite pieces from the new range.

the strikingly geometric Bau watering can is probably my absolute fave, with its impossibly sleek curved handle and razor-sharp spout, and I’m also desperate to get my hands on the collection of Column, Arch and Sphere photo stands – seriously, how chic are they?!

I’m also delighted that they’ve extended their range of Ripple glassware, adding in long drink glasses that will be wonderful for summertime tipples – oh, and a G&T!

Skandinavisk

Finally, I can’t wait to get my hands on these beautifully packaged new hand-care products from Skandinavisk, which represent the brand’s first foray into the wellness sector, featuring four of their most popular scents: Fjord, Lempi, Øy and Ro. Made in Denmark using all-natural extracts, the range includes hand wash, hand cream, hand lotion and foaming bar soap, all designed to nourish and protect exposed skin that has been ravished by the harshness of (a long, cold Mancunian) winter.

Have you spotted any fab new designs for SS18? Let me know of anything you think should be on my radar..

  1. I was smitten with the Marimekko ss range too. Such beautiful blues. But I have to say that chair from Norm Architects is now firmly on my wishlist. Thanks for sharing. x
