I love a good, unexpected, fashion collaboration!
Browsing new SS18 collections this week I came across a truly wonderful capsule range from high street heroes Warehouse, who’ve partnered with one of my favourite spaces in London, the Barbican, to create a range of patterns inspired by the Centre’s imposing fortress design, as well as the tropical plants of it’s hot-house conservatory, a secret-gem of tranquil paradise right in the heart of the city.

By exploring the Centre through the women who work there, the campaign really brings the place to life through a narrative driven by their connection to the building. We didn’t want to simply deliver a collection framed by a series of images; we wanted to empower real women to help tell the story, women who are relatable to customers old and new.

Exploring the hidden inner beauty and dynamic community within, Warehouse have invited six inspirational women to share their connection and personal love affair with the building, to help bring the new collection to life in a fabulous video on their website, showcasing the stunning Brutalist architecture of the Centre and surrounding estate, much beloved by Londoners and tourists alike.
Warehouse director of brand communications Jill Gate said, ‘Our head office is only five minutes from the Barbican and we all spend time there catching up both for work and pleasure. Inspired by the details in the building, from the green spaces to the iconic concrete, our design team have created an exciting range for spring.’
The Barbican is a space I always try to make time to visit whenever I’m back in town, heading either to the spacious Barbican Kitchen overlooking to open lakeside terrace to work, or simply wondering the concrete ziggurat, discovering new exhibitions or intriguing art installations.
I’m certainly impressed with the way in which the stunning architectural geometry has been interpreted in Warehouse’s new collection and have my eye on a number of pieces to liven up my spring wardrobe…
Have any of these new designs caught your eye?
