Fabric of my Life.

Here comes the summer’s son.

I don’t have a summer holiday booked yet this year, but that doesn’t stop me coveting a whole new wardrobe of sun-appropriate threads…

Summer style —and I mean sun-drenched, frolicking on the beach, wandering through dusty medinas and lounging languidly on the terrace, cocktail in hand— is my absolute weakness, despite the fact that I wilt instantly in temperatures over 25°, and my skin turns lobster red at the slightest sign of a sunbeam.

My dream destinations are always lined with palm trees, beds of water (of any kind) glittering away and layered tones of ochre, emerald and cobalt. I long for gauzy, floaty layers, bare midriffs (hah!), crochet knits, frayed denim and barely-there sandals. None of which I can actually pull off IRL. But still, it doesn’t hurt to dream..

As bohemian summer style dressing profilerates the high street, and everyone I follow on Instagram seems to be hotfooting it over to the Med, I can’t help but find myself scrolling endlessly through my favourite fashion sites, imaging what I might be packing if a jet-plane suddenly came a-calling.

This post exists as nothing but a vehicle for your wanderlust. You do not need a whole new summer wardrobe, even if you DO actually have a summer vacation booked. The chances are, last summer’s bikini (or the year befores, or the one before that) will still fit and has probably only been worn a handful of times. Which means its AS GOOD AS NEW.

You do not need another straw bag, or another floaty dress, or another pair of sunnies.

You do, however, need a new bottle of sun block.

But, if I were venturing further afield than my local stretch of (Northern, weather-beaten) shoreline, here are a few of the things I’d be coveting…

1. MANGO Crochet long dress* 2. HUSH Beach Playsuit* 3. WITH NOTHING UNDERNEATH The Boyfriend Linen Shirt* 4. ME+EM A-line Midi Dress* 5. THE WHITE COMPANY Paper Cross Body Bag* 6. MANGO Textured Bodysuit* 7. ANTHROPOLOGIE Malika Gauze Dress* 8. REFORMATION Layla Tubular Flat Sandal* 9. ZARA Plaited Tote Bag 10. SÉZANE Niels Shorts*

What is your definition of summer style?

Or do you struggle knowing what to wear in the warmer months?
